KAIKADO 150+1

150 Years of Craftsmanship & Beyond

Founded in Kyoto in 1875, Kaikado is Japan’s oldest maker of handcrafted metal tea caddies, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and timeless design. For over 150 years, the art of creating these beautiful objects has been passed down through generations, preserving traditional techniques while embracing the spirit of innovation. Following its 150th anniversary last year, Kaikado now enters its 151st year, marking a new chapter in its remarkable journey.

To celebrate this special milestone, Biën; is delighted to present an exhibition dedicated to Kaikado, inviting visitors to discover the beauty, precision, and enduring spirit of Japanese craftsmanship. Through this exhibition, we hope to share not only the artistry behind each piece, but also the philosophy of creating objects that become more beautiful with time and use.

The exhibition will bring together Kaikado’s collection of tea caddies and other creations, alongside a collection of remade tea caddies and the book published to commemorate its 150th anniversary. Anniversary tea caddies and special commemorative items will be available for purchase. Visitors will also discover collaboration tea caddies created with artists connected to France, including Patrick Roger.

We warmly invite our friends in Paris to join us in celebrating Kaikado’s extraordinary heritage and the beginning of its next chapter.
